Can Strategy Games Really Work on a Phone?
Strategy has always felt like a desktop genre. Tiny units, dense menus, and precise clicks don't obviously belong on a phone. And yet a handful of games make it work surprisingly well.
The trick is designing for the screen instead of shrinking a PC game down. Bigger units, a pause-to-plan option, and drag gestures that feel deliberate go a long way. The best mobile strategy games embrace their constraints.
Scarcity helps too. When you only control a few units, every decision carries weight and the small screen stops being a problem. It becomes a focused puzzle rather than a cluttered map.
If you've written off phone strategy, try one built from the ground up for touch. It's a different experience, but a genuinely good one.
