Five Offline RPGs Worth Finishing
Offline RPGs are a strange corner of the store. Many big names quietly require a connection, which is useless when you actually want a long game for a flight. So I went digging for the ones that hold up in airplane mode.
The best of the bunch keep their systems tight. Turn-based combat with a bit of positioning tends to work better on a touchscreen than real-time action, where fat fingers ruin everything. Look for games with a proper local save, not just cloud sync.
Story length matters more than graphics here. A twelve-hour RPG you can finish over a few commutes beats a flashy one that stalls after the tutorial. Read reviews for pacing complaints before you commit storage space.
My advice: test the offline claim yourself before you get invested. Flip on airplane mode, close the app, reopen it, and see if it complains. If it loads fine, you've found a keeper.
