A Week With Big Bass Studio

A Week With Big Bass Studio

August 2, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

I didn't think a fishing game would hook me, but Big Bass Studio did it within two train rides. The pitch is simple: cast, wait, and land bigger fish as you upgrade your gear. What sells it is how good the moment of the bite feels — that little jolt of tension when the line goes tight and you have to decide how hard to pull.

The early hours are about learning the water. Different spots hold different fish, and reading the ripples starts to mean something once you've missed a few big ones. The studio-building side kept me coming back too; sorting my tackle and slowly kitting out the workshop gave the whole thing a nice sense of ownership.

My favorite thing is that it never rushes you. There's no timer breathing down your neck and no pop-ups nagging for attention. You cast a line, you relax, and forty minutes go by. On a phone that's exactly what I want.

A practical note: it runs completely offline. I played the bulk of my week with the phone in airplane mode and never lost a session. If you want something calm that respects your time, Big Bass Studio is an easy recommendation.
